IMPORTANT..... This document contains VITAL information which you are STRONGLY advised to read before installing the aircraft. Reading this will save you time and trouble later on, and will enhance your enjoyment of this product.

INSTALLATION
==============

IMPORTANT NOTES BEFORE INSTALLATION:

1. you must have the default Flyhawk installed as our aircraft refer to some of its files.

2. You must have Fly!II FULLY PATCHED to version 210 to run these aircraft flawlessly. To find out if you have the 210 patch installed, HOLD DOWN the ALT key while starting Fly!II, this will bring up the graphic-options dialogue box. If you already have the 210 patch installed, at the bottom-left of this box you will see "2.0.210", if you do not have the 210 patch installed you will see a lower number, such as "2.0.152". The full 210 patch can be downloaded from:
http://ftp.avsim.com/library/index.php?CatID=Fly2Patch&Sort=Name

INSTALLATION:

Simply click on "Setup.exe", follow the prompts, and the Citabria and Decathlon will be automatically installed on your system.

AFTER INSTALLATION:

1. We strongly recommend that you open your "Fly.ini" file (in your "FlyII\System" Folder) and check the following lines in that file ARE EXACTLY AS SET OUT BELOW:

Under [SIM]:

coupleRudderToAileron=0
ignoreWingDamage=1
ignoreTurbulence=1 (this is optional but we recommend starting with turbulence off at first)
ignoreSlopeWind=1

Slope wind in Fly II is vastly exaggerated and we suggest the aircraft in this package will fly much better without this feature. We recommend setting "ingnoreWingdamage=1". You will still get a wing damage message when exceeding performance limits, and you will still get "catastrophic" damage if you hit an object or crash, but we feel the wing damage routine in Fly II is not satisfactory. As an option we recommend that you begin flying the Citabria and Decathlon with no more than 8-10 knots surface winds. In our view the winds in Fly II have a very exaggerated effect on both aircraft and their propellor behaviour.

Under [UI]:

startupAircraft=citabria.nfo

This will change the default startup aircraft from the Flyhawk to the Citabria. This setting is VERY IMPORTANT. Due to the Fly!II architecture, if you start Fly!II with the Flyhawk and then switch to the Citabria, some of the Flyhawk's gauges will show instead of the Citabria's. This is because the Citabria shares some gauge identifiers with the Flyhawk (these identifiers cannot be changed) and the gauges shown will be from whichever aircraft is loaded first.

Be sure to save "Fly.ini" onced you have modified it.

2. Now find all files with the extension "hst" in your aircraft folder and delete them (no harm will result). This makes certain that the aircraft load properly and fly properly for the first time.

BEFORE FLYING
===========

Finally, and MOST IMPORTANT... after choosing the Citabria AND Decathlon within Fly II, go immediately to the AIRCRAFT/OPTIONS menu and set ALL exponentials to 100%, then set trim sensitivites to 1% for touring and optionally 2-3% for aerobatics. You should periodically check these again, especially if the controls feel too sensitive.

It is most important that your joystick is set up properly in windows and is correctly calibrated. Our aircraft are finely tuned and will perform flawlessly if your stick and throttle controls are set properly. If you experience either excessive idle rpm or insufficient power in the climb, this is undoubtedly due to your throttle not being calibrated accurately.

Extra File
==========

We have included an optional extra "GPSping.wav" file in the zip. This gives you a much more pleasant GPS startup sound. If you would like to use it please extract it to your FlyII\Sound folder. It will do no harm to your system, or to Fly. (Create the Sound folder under FlyII if you don't already have one). If you don't like the new sound simply remove the file and fly II will revert to the strident original sound.

FLYING
=======

Please refer to the comprehensive guide, in the form of an executable file, accompanying this zip. It contains a wealth of information about flying the REALAIR Simulations Citabria and Decathlon, and is fully illustrated. To access the guide click "Citabria.exe" and navigate the menu.

We have spent a great deal of time and effort to design and tune these two characterful aircraft to fly with the utmost fluidity and realism, but also with excellent pitch stability. The challenge was to design these aircraft as not only touring, VFR-oriented "sport planes" but also as useful trainers for many aerobatic maneouvres. Please refer to the illustrated guide in this package for details, but below we also list a few helpful hints in the management of views.

Note:The air mass data in Fly II appears not to reflect the impossibility of light aircraft of this type being able to fly at high altitudes. Therefore if you find you can fly our aircraft happily at 18000 feet plus, we are as baffled by this as you may be!

VIEWS
======

Both the aircraft in this package have comprehensive views available. There are three forward views: Full Panel, Upper Half of Panel (for take off and perhaps landing), and a view skywards. These and all other views, which give you access to ultra high quality bitmaps of working gauges and instruments, moving throttle, wing views with moving surfaces (a first for Fly II), and full 360 degree panoramic views in every direction, are best assigned to your hat switch on your joystick, or can be assigned to any key you choose (please refer to fly II's documentation).

A note about sounds. The "Clear Prop" sound is part of the custom looped engine wav files. Thus if you attempt to start the engine with the throttle higher than idle, you may get a speeded up message!
